About the workshop:
While Piñatas are often linked with Mexico, they have a rich history. In this two-part workshop, participants will explore their origins and history and learn how to make traditional piñatas. This workshop consists of two sessions. On the first day, you will delve into the history and start creating the base. On the second day, the focus will be on decorating.
Workshop led by Danny T
Danny is a folk and traditional artist who works with various media. Raised in Puebla and New York, he developed a passion for crafts from a young age. Growing up with his grandparents, he was deeply immersed in Mexican traditions, and one of his earliest memories is his family coming together to prepare offerings for an altar honoring their departed loved ones. This rich cultural background shapes his artistic practice, allowing him to explore and celebrate his heritage through his work.
Admission is free. All materials will be provided. Please note: Space is limited, and advance registration is required. The workshop is for adults.
This workshop is part of the Imagine Mexico: Art Enrichment Workshop series, made possible by the West Harlem Development Corporation, the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature, and by The Mosaic Network and Fund (MNF).
