About the event
Join us for a fun, interactive workshop to decorate and paint small clay sculptures and pendants. No prior experience is necessary.
About the workshop:
The art of clay or pottery in Mexico is a tradition that originated in pre-Hispanic times. Today, the catrinas from Michoacan and the Tree of Life from Metepec are well-known traditions. Join us for this workshop and learn more about pottery while decorating small sculptures and pendants made from Mexican clay. Take a piece of Mexico home.
Workshop led by Danny T
Danny T was raised in Puebla and New York. He has had a keen interest and talent for crafts since he was a young child. Growing up with his grandparents, he was immersed in Mexican traditions. One of his earliest memories is of the family coming together to prepare offerings for the altar to honor their departed loved ones.
Free admission. All materials are provided. Please note: Space is limited; advance registration is required. The workshop is for adults.
This workshop is part of the Imagine Mexico: Art Enrichment Workshop series, made possible by the West Harlem Development Corporation, the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature, and by The Mosaic Network and Fund (MNF).
