About the event

Participate in our Tile Painting workshop to embellish a ceramic tile, drawing inspiration from the Talavera style and various Mexican traditions.

About the workshop:

The Spanish introduced decorated tiles to the Americas in the 16th century. Remarkable tile traditions exist throughout Latin America, including Talavera in Mexico. Andrea Arroyo will conduct a workshop in which participants will decorate ceramic tiles inspired by Talavera and other Mexican traditions.

Advance registration is required due to limited space. The workshop is exclusively for adults.

Andrea Arroyo is an acclaimed artist who creates in diverse media, including painting, artist books, mixed media, digital works, public art, and installations. Her art is showcased and preserved worldwide in esteemed collections like The Library of Congress, The National Museum of Mexican Art, The Richmond Museum, The Smithsonian Institution, and The New York Public Library.

This workshop is part of the Imagine Mexico: Art Enrichment workshop series, made possible by the West Harlem Development Corporation, the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature, and by The Mosaic Network and Fund (MNF).
